Of the fourteen boys and three girls representing A-J, the club took home one first place, four second place, one third place and three fourth place winners. In the novice division, Barry Johnson and Wyatt Dowdy finished fourth and in the senior division, Nate Kisat finished fourth, all barely missing state qualification. One Wildcat—fifth-year wrestler Blake Mays—took second at sectionals and went on to represent the club in Rockford. He was eliminated early but father and head coach Grover Mays was glad to see him competing at the state level the first year he was eligible and expects him to learn a lot from the experience. Hawk, Hale and Macy finished third.
Both Griffin and Wojcikiewicz, age 10, were still eligible to compete in the Intermediate year olds but bumped up to Novice to face the tougher competition and a chance to wrestle at IKWF State in Rockford, Illinois. That decision paid huge dividends this past weekend. This is the final IKWF tournament this season and is specifically set up for wrestlers age
